ABOUT

JAMAICA MEDIA PRODUCTIONS is a multi-media company specicalizing in publishing books, making films and engaging in projects of Jamaican cultural creativity.  Founded in 1998 by author, journalist and film maker BARBARA MAKEDA BLAKE-HANNAH, the company has published 5 books, made 8 films and organized an annual festival of films promoting Jamaica's reggae culture, The company provides promotional support for members of Jamaica's reggae music industry, as well as for other authors, entertainment events and artists.

Barbara Makeda Blake-Hannah is a respected Elder Empress and activist of the Rastafari religion. In 1968 she was hired by THAMES TV as Britain's first Black TV journalist.  Another 'first' was her appointment in 1984 as an Independet Senator and the first RASTA to sit in the Jamaican Parliament.  In 2002 she founded the Jamaica Reparations Movement (JaRM) which established the framework for Jamaica's official claim. She has lectured at universities in the USA, Europe and the Caribbean, and has been featured in several books and documentary films on Jamaica and the Rastafari religion.
